Short answer
NATA-accredited testing means the test was performed under a documented, audited method, by an assessed laboratory, to a consistent standard — so the result can be relied on by someone who wasn’t on site. Waterproofing Integrity holds NATA Accreditation No. 21463 (Site No. 25832), and we’ll always be upfront about which of our testing methods that accreditation covers.
What NATA accreditation does prove
It proves the test was conducted using a defined, repeatable method, by assessed personnel, with equipment that’s calibrated and traceable. It proves the lab has been independently audited against a recognised standard. In practical terms: if you handed the same sample or the same site conditions to another NATA-accredited lab, you’d expect a comparable result — because the method, not the individual, is what’s being certified.
What NATA accreditation does not automatically prove
It’s not a badge that makes every test Waterproofing Integrity runs equally certified, and it doesn’t mean the test was the right one for the project. Waterproofing Integrity has NATA-accredited capability across specific methods — we don’t imply blanket accreditation across everything in the testing library, and neither should any provider. It also doesn’t replace judgement: an accredited test run at the wrong project stage, or interpreted without context, is still the wrong test.
When accredited testing matters
Accreditation earns its cost when the result needs to travel — when it’s going to sit in a handover file, get pulled into a warranty claim, get reviewed by an insurer, or get read by someone in a dispute who wasn’t there when the test happened. For a quick internal check during construction, a non-accredited inspection might be all you need. For evidence that has to hold up months or years later, accreditation is what makes the result defensible rather than just informative.

Why independence changes the value of the report
A test result carries more weight when the tester has no stake in the outcome. Waterproofing Integrity isn’t the installer, the builder, or the product manufacturer — we’re an independent consultancy testing and reporting on what we find. Combined with accreditation, that independence is what gives a report credibility with a certifier or a party on the other side of a dispute. Independence answers “can I trust who ran this test?” Accreditation answers “can I trust how it was run?” You generally need both.
How NATA evidence fits inside a broader testing plan
Accreditation is one layer of the testing library, not a replacement for the other Waterproofing Integrity methods runs — electronic leak detection, adhesion testing, substrate readiness testing, and others. The right approach on most projects is to work out which parts of the testing plan need to be NATA-accredited, and which just need a competent, well-documented inspection. That’s a conversation worth having before you book anything.
Questions to ask before booking a test
- Does this result need to be defensible to a third party — certifier, insurer, or in a dispute?
- Is this test within Waterproofing Integrity’s NATA-accredited scope, or is it a broader inspection?
- Who else will be relying on this report, and when?
If the answer touches handover, warranty, or a dispute, accreditation is worth asking for by name.
