Telstra Tower

The Telstra Tower that overlooks Canberra is synonymous as a landmark and a tourist destination for many Australians when visiting the Nation’s Capital. Since being closed to the public in 2021 during COVID and only maintaining its operational capacity since, Architectus have led the team a team tasked with bringing together the revitalisation of the landmark as both a functional telecommunications tower and tourist attraction for Telstra and the ACT Government.

Waterproofing Integrity were engaged in 2024 for early design works to investigate and report on the state of the 50-year old structure from a waterproofing integrity perspective. Further to this, early concept reviews took place to advise on the feasibility and key considerations in reactivating the podium concourse with a cafe and landscaping to reestablish the site as a tourist and cultural facility. Design works are currently progressing with a builder to be engaged shortly for the site to be made open to the public again in 2027 and once again light up the Canberra sky.

“We know revitalising the tower will enhance the range of visitor experiences in Canberra and our visitor economy”

— Andrew Barr, ACT Chief Minister
